Biography

Lyrric Cosby Jackson is a Georgia native that began her dance studies at a small Georgia-based dance studio at age three. In her early years, she studied classical ballet with the Georgia College and State University dance company. She is a 2013 dance performance graduate of Spelman College with a bachelors degree in drama, concentrating in dance. There she studied ballet, modern, jazz, dance history and research, and choreography under Kenneth Green, T. Lang, Meredith Moore, Otis Sallid (workshops), and Kathleen Wessel.

Lyrric performed with the Spelman College Dance Theatre Company for three years of her undergraduate career and choreographed for four of the concerts presented during her time with the company. She served as an administrative intern for Staibdance Company for one full year under the supervision of George Staib and dance pedagogy student teacher for Kathleen Wessel at Spelman College. She has been a production assistant for a number of shows and events for Spelman College under the guidance and mentorship of Kenneth Green. She also worked as the assistant stage manager for “SpeakEasy” and “Singing for Haiti”, produced by Kenneth Green, at the Alliance Theatre on the Hertz Stage.

Lyrric assisted in choreographing movement for the original musical performance "I've Known Rivers," created and conceived by Kenneth Green for the 92nd birthday celebration of Dr. Joseph E. Lowery and was second assistant stage manager for his 2017 birthday celebration at the Rialto Performing Arts Center. She is the arts education coordinator for dance at the Fulton County Southwest Arts Center, a current company member of the Okwae A.
