Biography
Suneye Rae Holmes is a seventh-generation Texan and one of two Spelman graduates in her family. She was in the Glee Club and served as a chapel assistant while in undergrad and then worked on Wall Street and for the Census Bureau before committing to a career in academia.
Holmes is dedicated to the training and uplifting of Black women in economics and is humbled to serve the institution which nurtured her intellectual curiosities. She advises the AUC Speaks club and teaches for the Wi-STEM and Sloan Scholars programs.
Holmes is also working on a Ph.D. in economics part-time at Georgia Institute of Technology, concentrating in health economics. When not in the classroom (or online), she is hiking on the trail, reading or perhaps at one of her Toastmasters’ Club meetings.
