Chemistry & Biochemistry Chair Launches Website to Highlight Diversity Efforts in STEM
Kimberly Jackson, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, shared best practices on the education and training of Black women in STEM during the STEMM Equality Congress in Amsterdam, Oct. 11-12. The Congress featured senior representatives and thought leaders from universities and private companies alongside funding agencies, research councils, policymakers and other organizations.
Dr. Jackson’s participation highlighted efforts being made at Spelman to expose and prepare Black women in STEM, such as the LINCS Scholars program. “It was exciting to be invited and present my work on cultivating Black women in STEM on an international platform,” she said.
Recently Dr. Jackson launched Chem Gems, a website designed to highlight scholarship and innovative academic programs.
